Students are encouraged to do research oriented projects, multidisciplinary and special projects. Students are also given opportunities to get international exposure through semester abroad programme (SAP).

More than twenty students from the Computer science and engineering discipline went to University of California, Berkeley and University of Wisconsin, Madison to pursue one semester study through SAP in the last two years.
State of the art laboratory facilities are provided to the students for gaining quality practical experience. Students take up internships in the industries and institutes of eminence in India and abroad to get quality practical working experience. Overall, the under graduate computer science and engineering students are provided with high quality research oriented education which will mould them to succeed in modern technological world.
Inculcate strong foundations in basic Computer Science and Engineering concepts by implementing innovative teaching-learning methods with a strong emphasis on practice-oriented learning and thus improve applicability in students.
Make the students highly employable to meet the needs of various national and global industries by imparting the ability to adapt themselves to the rapidly changing requirements of the Computer Science and Engineering field.
Promote a strongly interdisciplinary approach that integrates the study of multiple academic disciplines, which can develop skills required to build careers in various emerging fields of Science and Technology.
Educate the students to emerge as intellectually capable leaders and entrepreneurs respecting human values and becoming more responsive to environmental and social issues.

Demonstrate proficiency in analysis, design, and development of competent solutions by applying algorithmic techniques, software modelling, mathematical foundations and theory of computation.

Design and develop solutions for computer hardware, system software and application software.
Conduct world-class research activities in emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Data Science which helps in developing solutions needed for society.
Programme Outcomes (PO)
Engineering Knowledge

Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and engineering. specialisation in the solution of complex engineering problems.

Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyse engineering problems to arrive at substantiated conclusions using the first principles of mathematics, natural, and engineering sciences.
Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components, and processes to meet the specifications with consideration for public health and safety, and cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
Use research-based knowledge, including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling, to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
Apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
Understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of and need for sustainable development.
Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering practice.
Function effectively as an individual and as a member or leader in teams and in multidisciplinary settings.
Communicate effectively with the engineering community and with society at large. Be able to comprehend and write effective reports and documentation. Make effective presentations and give and receive clear instructions.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s work as a member and leader in a team. Manage projects in multidisciplinary environments.
Recognise the need for and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Project (UROP)

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Project (UROP) is an innovative idea being facilitated to 3rd year Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) students in their 6th semester. UROP is made compulsory for all 3rd year CSE students so as to engage them in research activities at an early stage.

Some of these projects are being converted to Research publications in Conferences and Journals. Students have participated enthusiastically throughout the semester in UROP. UROP also gave opportunity for the faculty members to get to know the capabilities of the students whom they are mentoring.
Overall, UROP has ushered in an innovative and research environment among all the members of the CSE department. UROP is also rightfully endowed with 2 credits to make it a rewarding experience to the students.

Semester Abroad Programme (SAP)

SRM University- AP, Andhra Pradesh encourages and supports its students to go for Semester Abroad Programme (SAP) by providing financial support. We have collaboration with the world’s finest universities like the University of California Berkely, the University of Wisconsin-Madison for SAP where students get the opportunity to showcase their talent and knowledge imbibed at SRM University-AP in a highly competitive environment.
SAP influence the perspectives, personalities, and academic life of the students positively. From enhancing a global network to experiencing a new culture, it can be a life-changing experience for students. With the great vision of producing world leaders at SRM University- AP, 23 students have gone for SAP from the CSE department in the very first three years of its journey (20 students to the University of California Berkely with full financial support and 3 students to the University of Wisconsin-Madison).
